Kyiv Faces Deadly Drone and Missile Assault – Two Lives Lost, Many Injured
Kyiv, Ukraine – July 10, 2025

The city of Kyiv endured a tragic overnight strike as Russia executed an extensive 10-hour drone and missile attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that at least two individuals were killed and another 22 were injured in this offensive.

Ukraine’s air force indicated that 397 drones and 18 missiles were launched, which included nearly 200 Shahed drones manufactured in Iran. In response, Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted 14 missiles and 164 drones, with electronic systems neutralizing over 200 additional threats.

President Zelenskyy characterized the incident as a "massive combined attack," aiming at Kyiv and nearby areas, such as Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv. Wreckage from the drones caused extra harm across more than 20 locations.

Russia’s Defense Ministry took responsibility, asserting that its military utilized "high-precision long-range weapons" to target military installations and airfields in Kyiv, claiming all objectives were hit effectively.

Zelenskyy denounced the attack as an “escalation of terror” and urged international allies to respond swiftly, advocating for increased sanctions, enhanced air defenses, and funding for the production of Ukrainian drones.

He intends to discuss urgent assistance with his allies, including interceptor drones and additional missile defense systems.

In the meantime, Russia stated it intercepted 14 Ukrainian drones over its territories and the Black Sea. In the Belgorod region, two civilians were injured due to debris from a drone.

This strike follows just a day after Russia executed its most extensive aerial offensive of the conflict, launching 728 drones alongside 13 missiles in a single night.

Despite ongoing peace efforts led by the U.S., Moscow continues to escalate its attacks. In the first 10 days of July alone, Russia has fired more than 2,400 drones and 58 missiles into Ukraine.

In Washington, political pressures are mounting. Senator Lindsey Graham mentioned that former President Donald Trump is prepared to back a new Senate bill imposing tariffs of up to 500% on countries purchasing oil and gas from Russia. Trump criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for making "empty promises" and expressed dissatisfaction over unsuccessful peace talks.

As Kyiv endures relentless attacks, Ukrainian officials are urging the U.S. to reactivate military aid, including Patriot missile systems and precision armaments. The Pentagon confirmed that some assistance has resumed, including 155mm artillery shells and GMLR rockets intended for HIMARS systems.

Ukraine warns that without a quicker international response, Russian aggression will only escalate further.
